ONBOARDING
The Stampede offers a flexible volunteer program, and our onboarding process is designed to reflect the unique level of involvement for each Volunteer. Whether you’re joining as a Committee Volunteer or an Event Volunteer, the onboarding experience will be tailored to your role.
NEW VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION PROGRAM
The first step in the onboarding process is completing the New Volunteer Orientation Program. This program consists of interactive video training sessions that must be completed before Volunteers can begin their role.

BACKGROUND SCREENING
Background Screening is an important initiative to maintain the safety and security of all Members of the Calgary Stampede and the general public. Background Screening is also a prudent step in providing a safe environment for vulnerable individuals. The completion and maintenance of a satisfactory criminal record check is a condition of volunteering for all Volunteers and Employees of the Stampede.
SPECIFIC TRAINING
After the general onboarding process, Volunteers receive training tailored to their specific roles:
COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS: Committees may provide onboarding and training sessions specific to their committee activities and the programs they deliver. The level of training provided varies and depends on the nature of the committee’s work and could include training shifts, hands-on learning, shadowing opportunities, new member meetings, etc.
EVENT VOLUNTEERS: Each event opportunity or shift is unique and Event Volunteers receive specific training and information directly from the Event Leader.
